Inspection and Certification
Facilities with radiation emitting devices in private practice in British Columbia are required to be inspected and certified as part of their professional accreditation process.
XRAA sets inspection and accreditation standards, provides certification and stores inspection documents in a provincial x-ray registry.

To: All active members of the British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA) who own and operate x-ray equipment including intra-oral (including handheld and portable), extra-oral (panoramic, cephalometric) and CBCT

BC dental offices will not longer be inspected under the BC Dental Association's previous Radiation Protection Program and will now be responsible for compliance procedures and inspections independently.
In British Columbia, until June 1, 2025, all dentist members of the BC Dental Association were inspected and certified by the British Columbia Dental Association Radiation Inspection Program. Certificates were issued valid for 5 years from inspection date.
Any equipment tested June 1-Dec 31, 2020 is due for reinspection prior to December 31, 2026.
